Winner of the funniest Christmas card

Brad's great Uncle George has no time for cheesy anecdotes or heartfelt Christmas greetings.  He gets right to the point and says what all Manitobans want to say to people who live in a warmer climate than them in the winter [which is pretty much everyone].

This card is as good as the time my Grandpa Smith sent a Christmas card addressed to Shannon and Bart.

Festive furballs

Llorca and Jag love the holiday season.  There are cards to knock over, ribbons to chew, and paper to roll around in.  This year B bought me a machine to make my own carbonated water and Jag was anxiously awaiting the time that he could hop into the box.

My Mum knitted me some hand warmers and a new hat!  Now I can fully accept the fact that I'm a wimp and need something to keep me toasty during the California "winter".

In between projects

I've been working on this crewel work embroidery pillow for a few months now.  It was a complete kit from the 1960s that I found at the thrift store for about 2$.  The rusty needle was the only thing that wasn't in top shape!

I brought it with me to my parents place in July and do a bit of stitching every time I want to do something easy.  Now that the craft show and holiday present-making is over I might just finish this by the New Year!

The dark green part reminds me of the visit with my family and the pink embroidery reminds me of when J and K came to visit in August.

New sales job!

No, not really. BUT I have been coaxed by somoene in this household to mention our new alarm system.  That's right predators, stay clear of our place.  The system we have is called InGrid and you can monitor the alarms online.  So, even if you're out of town you can see if any doors or windows have been opened just by checking your account on the internet.   If you decide you want to get one for your place let us refer you so we can get a discount on our monthly monitoring.

End of sales pitch!

I did a craft sale at the UC Davis hospital today and I made some extra Christmas money but it was still pretty slow there.  I made loads of new wallet and luggage tags just for the show and sold out of almost all the luggage tags!

Last weekend was a busy one.  We went to the neurology open house at the neurology Chair's house and it was a surprisingly good time compared to last year.  I think that's because they decided to serve wine this time.  After, I changed into my yoga clothes for Alicia's bridal shower and did some very awkward poses that I hope I won't have to recreate anytime soon.  We also did henna tattoos but I washed mine off early when I realised it would have to sit on my skin for about 4 hours.

Later that night Camille, Niki and I went and shook our finely toned behinds on the dance floor and witnessed some sad pickup attempts.  One guy, who could barely stand, made devil horns with his hands, put them over his head and started shimmying over to our table before sitting down next to Camille.  He started to talk to us incoherently before security took him away.

Occupation : domestic goddess

I'm filling out passport forms and it is so exciting! NOT!

I have to list my occupation as "homemaker".  Hopefully they won't come to investigate that statement because my homemaking skills are pitiful.  From now until my application is approved I'll be cleaning the house everyday just in case the Canadian government sends one of their spies to check up on me.

One of the strangest parts of the application is that it has to be signed by a Canadian guarantor who has known me for 2 years.  Where am I supposed to find that person in America?  I think I need to associate with more Canadians!  Thankfully, there is a way around it but I have to see a notary to get another forms signed.  I'll be dreaming about forms tonight!

In between figuring out the paperwork and sweeping up hairballs I've been making my Christmas cards.  I worked on another linocut this year.  I am very excited about them but I can't post any photos yet since I have to write them all and send them first.  I decided to make some more cards to sell using the linocut I made for last years cards.  They're in my shop and I like them so much!  I bought some extra special cardstock to print them on and that made a big difference.
